Located in the private community of Glenbrook, the owners of this Tahoe home, together with SLD, embarked on a 2-year journey to transform their “mountain getaway” into a gorgeous lake-side retreat where they could raise two boys while enjoying all that mountain living has to offer. As avid readers, the owners needed a library to house their extensive book collection so we designed a custom-built bookshelf that spans multiple walls and maximizes the available ceiling height. We honored the original architecture by sanding all of the beamwork back to its original tone and tripled the size of the dining room glass openings. We carefully sourced art for a gallery wall as tall as the windows, selected furniture for both comfort and style, and designed custom brackets for the dining pendants which highlight the ceiling height and emphasize the home’s grandiosity.
